Mental Health

Mental Health at SHE. FULLY ALIVE centers on cognitive and emotional well-being—the inner foundation that allows us to think clearly, manage stress, and navigate life’s ups and downs with resilience.
Strong mental health is reflected in the ability to regulate emotions, maintain perspective, and respond to challenges with adaptability and self-awareness. Key indicators include a healthy sense of self-esteem, effective coping strategies, a realistic sense of agency, and the capacity to cultivate meaningful goals and relationships.
At SHE. FULLY ALIVE, we honor mental health as an essential pillar of thriving—one that supports every other aspect of well-being.
At SHE. FULLY ALIVE. LLC, we honor the whole person — mind, body, heart, and spirit — and recognize that mental health is deeply interconnected with our physical, spiritual, and social well-being.

The Role of Adverse Childhood Experiences
(ACES) in Mental Health
The role of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in mental health is profound and far-reaching. Research shows that individuals who experience trauma, neglect, or household dysfunction in childhood are at significantly higher risk for developing mental health challenges later in life, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, and suicidal ideation. Research supports that about two-thirds of U.S. adults—approximately 64%—report having experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE), and around 17% report experiencing four or more ACEs, based on recent peer-reviewed national data
ACEs disrupt the brain’s development and stress response system, creating patterns of hypervigilance, emotional dysregulation, and difficulty trusting others. Over time, these early wounds can impact relationships, self-worth, and one’s ability to cope with everyday stressors.
However, awareness leads to healing. When individuals understand how their past influences their present, they can begin to untangle those patterns with compassion and intention. Therapeutic support, trauma-informed care, community connection, and practices such as mindfulness, movement, and narrative writing all play a role in recovery.
At She. Fully Alive., we recognize the importance of tending to these early wounds with gentleness and grace. Our holistic approach to mental wellness honors the connection between past experiences and present well-being, empowering individuals to reclaim their wholeness—mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
