Thresholds: An Invitation to 2026

As 2025 comes to a close, many people begin talking about New Year’s resolutions. Yet before you rush to name goals or commitments, I invite you to consider something deeper. As we look toward 2026, we are collectively approaching a threshold—one of the most significant metaphors for transformation in our lives.

What Is a Threshold?
Thresholds are seasons of crossing from one reality into another. They often usher us into liminal spaces—those in-between places where what has been is already dissolving and what will be has not yet taken shape. These spaces can feel tender, uncertain, and unfamiliar, yet they are often the very places where the Divine presence becomes most audible, if we create the space to listen.
Why Doors and Portals Matter
I deeply value the promise and possibility this time of year offers. Doors—open or closed—seem to shimmer with invitation.
In the literal sense, they are places of pausing: unlocking, knocking, waiting, asking for entry.
In the spiritual sense, they symbolize our inner movements. To live is to cross threshold after threshold. And while the path behind us does not dictate our future, it always contains wisdom that can guide us into what comes next.
A Reflective Practice for Entering 2026
As you prepare to step across the threshold into a new year, I invite you to engage a simple but profound practice of looking back over your 2025 story.
Set aside intentional time and walk through your year month by month. Record what stands out:
Where were the places of gratitude?
Where were the places of struggle?
What did you do well?
Where do you wish you had shown up differently?
What needs to be celebrated, honored, or released?
Sit gently with what you discover. Let these reflections inform the threshold before you. As you do, complete the She. Fully Alive Manifesto—a way of honoring how your history shapes your unfolding future. This practice is not about self-critique or performance; it is about opening your heart to the next invitation, even if it calls you away from what is comfortable and toward what is unknown.
The Gift of Liminal Space
When we cross a threshold, the old has already been released—sometimes willingly, other times painfully—and the new has not yet taken form. It is tempting to grasp for clarity, direction, or control. Yet doing so can bypass the richness of this in-between season and the grace that time offers as we grow into who we are called to become.
This is the paradoxical gift of thresholds: they ask us to pause rather than press forward.
A Final Invitation
Take a moment now. Wherever you are, imagine yourself standing in a doorway—one foot in the old year, one in the new. Instead of rushing across, allow yourself to linger. Let your body become familiar with this place of mystery, possibility, and unknowing.
Savor the sacredness of this threshold. Let it speak. Let it settle. Let it guide you.
May the threshold into 2026 open wide with wisdom, courage, and an awakened sense of your own becoming.
