Ethical AI Use: How Boundaries Protect Creativity, Presence, and Human Well-Being

At SXSW, I met a poet from Los Angeles whose work sits at the intersection of creativity, presence, and the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence. She was presenting on how we can integrate AI in ways that deepen—not diminish—our capacity for presence. For that talk, she created her very first PowerPoint using AI, a small but meaningful example of what becomes possible when access expands.

She spoke candidly about both the opportunity and the tension. With a bold vision to produce a film exploring peaceful responses to some of our most pressing societal challenges—and very limited resources—AI has opened doors that might otherwise remain closed. And yet, within her artistic community, its use has not come without resistance.

What stood out most was her language: “boundaried use.” A thoughtful, disciplined approach to AI that honors creativity, protects integrity, and keeps humanity at the center.

At She. Fully Alive, we resonate deeply with this posture. Our approach to AI is intentional, responsible, and grounded in ethical practice. We have articulated this through a clear positioning statement, and as our use of AI continues to evolve, our commitment remains steady: to the well-being of the whole person.

We believe this is collective work. And we welcome connection with others who are shaping similarly values-driven approaches—for the good of all.
